Obi (Charmeuse Oberon Moondust) is a cream Burmese cat, I cannot say that he is our pet as this is certainly not what he understands the situation to be.

In Obi's world I am the dominant male, it is his job to groom my hair and my job to give him his morning attention  which consists of a vigorous rubdown and some play fighting. This is why I am normally sporting a fishy smelling wet patch on my head and one or two bite marks on my hands.

In Obi's world Carol is the bottom of the heap, it is his job to keep her in line with the odd nip to the nearest extremity, and Carol's job to provide him with all of life's little necessities such as food, water, a clean toilet and when the sun is shining a parasol in the garden in which to sit under.

Obi is very vocal, in fact we are sure the neighbours think we are on the verge of a divorce due to the fact we are continually shouting *WILL YOU SHUT UP*. He is usually asking for attention and the normal affairs of human life such as eating a meal, talking on the telephone, housework etc. should certainly not prevent him from getting what he wants.

The back garden is Obi's favourite place to be, where he either sits in the sun or hides in various ambush positions waiting for an unsuspecting creature to happen along.

Obi was entered in a cat show in his first year, when judging time came around it was discovered that he has a slightly undershot jaw and so he had to be marked down, unfortunately he was the only cat in his class and because he had to be marked down he was given 2nd place. There's not many animals that can lay claim to coming second in a one horse race !!

The History Of Oberon (By Carol)

Obi was born on 7th January 2001, he was one of a litter of kittens born to my parents cat Champion Rumba Charmeuse Supernova (Novi) and Grand Champion Hobberdy His Lordship.

The first 2 pictures above show the kittens at a few days old, the one in the middle is not being strangled (honest). The kittens were blind with bud like ears for about 3 weeks and in the space of week looked became the rogues on the right.

Because we knew we were going to home one of the kittens we went to see them every couple of weeks to check up on their progress and their different personalities. It was great fun watching them play together and then one by one fall asleep on the spot (see picture below).

The kittens all went to good homes after 13 weeks except Obi who stayed with my parents for 6 months whilst we looked after Sumi who was too old to cope with kittens at this stage. Sumi was a lovely cat who died at the grand old age of 21 (or 147 in human years).

This is one of Obi's favourite poses which he learned at an early age and has since perfected.
